Centenary of Boundary Commission event
This Labour Movement for Irish Unity event marks the centenary of the 1924–25 Irish Boundary Commission. Historian Cormac Moore discusses why the Commission, once seen by nationalists as a path to territorial change and by unionists as a threat, ultimately failed, with long-lasting consequences for Northern nationalists and the whole island. The talk also draws parallels between the Treaty settlement and the Good Friday Agreement, highlighting ongoing concerns about British government control over calling a border poll, and situates the episode within the British Labour Party’s wider colonial record in Ireland.
